Hello, I'm Heather and it is so nice to meet you. Thank you for checking out my blog. I hope you enjoy reading "About Me" in a conversation type dialogue.

So why "Spastic Faith"?

• I named this blog "Spastic Faith" because that is what faith can be like. Our faith is fluid, moving and changing. Sometimes we think we have it all figured out and then the unexpected happens. Like a spastic nerve, there has been a disturbance in the force. Sorry I digressed. But, you know what, that is okay, because faith wouldn't be faith if it was easy.

Why should you read my blog posts?

• Good question! Well, I like to talk about the things that people don't like to talk about when it comes to faith. I like to get messy, just like Jesus. I'm a Christian and follow Christ. If you aren't and follow someone else, that is also okay because all faiths are relevant. I believe there are hard things in each faith tradition that we just need to talk about or think about further, and that's what I do. 

What credentials do you have?

• Oh, I LOVE that question! You and I sound like we could get along. I hate listening to people that can't back up what they are saying. Well I didn't get my education off the internet. However, I did use the internet during my education. I received my bachelor's from Arizona State University in Religious Studies and my Master's of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, (That's a mouthful.) I have seven plus years of experience working in The United Methodist Church and United Church of Christ. Yo, I got street credit to back up what I'm saying. You feel me?!

You're funny, where did you get your sense of humor from?

• Well thank you. I got it from my dad, he was a funny guy. Yep, I said was. My dad passed away in 1999. I miss him greatly, but I cherish the 20 years I had with him. That experience was a life changing one that I will someday post about. But until then, trust me when I say I know the pain associated with death, loss, and taking someone off life support. Now, I don't want this to end on a sad note, so ask me another question.

Okay, what do you like to do in your free time?

• Hmmmmm....Well I don't get a lot of free time because I'm always busy. When I'm not running 5K's on the weekends with my fiancee, Amanda, I love to play video games, go for walks, go hiking, fishing for the one that got away, throwing a ball with our fur-baby Libby, and laughing with friends. I guess you could say I just like to live life to the fullest because each moment is a moment you will never be able to take back. You should do the same.
